Cookery Masterclass via Zoom
With the country still in the grips of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic an autumn dinner was always unlikely. Bucklanders are a hardy bunch, but rarely foolhardy, so an alternative arrangement was required. This materialised in the persona of Lajina Masala a revelation in all things curry related. Spices were despatched, along with connection instructions for the notorious Zoom link, which resulted in a healthy number gathering to do battle from their kitchens.
The results were impressive. Whilst Lajina led the proceedings, she had her band of helpers that included son Sam (who had gained his own fan club by the end of the afternoon), plus husband Krish. Between them they cured most of the technical hiccups, and allowed participants to share in some of the previously unknown secrets of Indian cuisine.
Armed with her own range of expertly blended spices Lajina guided us through a several dishes. The winner was definitely the Butter Chicken; a surprisingly straightforward dish that lacked onions but contained a healthy amount of garlic and ginger.
The universally popular Butter Chicken
The afternoon was unanimously declared a huge success by all involved. It is hoped that the Club will engage in further ventures with Lajina, in a bid to satisfy members quest for gastronomic adventure in these most curious of times.
