Minutes of a Highland Banquet
On a very personal note this dinner certainly lives long in the memory. It was my first exposure to the Buckland Club, and I was rightly smitten. Bryer’s minutes capture, with his usual robust good humour, the shear delight of both food and drink presented to members. He also allows the reader to gain a sense of sponsor Hamish Wilson’s enthusiasm and knowledge for the evening’s chosen theme.
My overwhelming recollection is of the truly magnificent seafood; however in the very best tradition of Buckland dinners it started well and then went from strength to strength. An absolute triumph of an evening.
